Baltimore Orioles are set to welcome a new hitting coach, Dustin Lind, who will take the reins as the club's lead hitting coach. The team is in the midst of a coaching staff overhaul, with a focus on improving their hitting department. Lind, a 37-year-old former outfielder, brings a wealth of experience to the table. He has worked as an assistant hitting coach for the Philadelphia Phillies for the past two seasons and previously served as the director of hitting and assistant hitting coach for the San Francisco Giants from 2020-2023. Lind's journey in MLB coaching began in 2018 when he joined the Seattle Mariners as a Minor League quality assurance coach. He then became Seattle's director of hitting development and strategies in 2019. The Orioles are hoping Lind can help them turn things around after a disappointing 2025 season, where they underperformed offensively, ranking 24th in average, 21st in OPS, and 24th in runs scored. With a talented position-player core, including Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, and Jackson Holliday, Lind's task is to create a diverse and productive offense. This hiring comes as part of a broader strategy led by Albernaz and president of baseball operations Mike Elias to build a strong coaching staff for the 2026 season.
